Khalid Al Khatib, the CEO of NAFFCO Group, recently delivered an insightful TED Talk where he underscored the critical role played by the UAE's robust infrastructure and government support in both his personal success and the remarkable growth of NAFFCO. Speaking on the concluding day of the Make it in the Emirates Forum, Eng. Khalid Al Khatib delved into the extraordinary development of the UAE's manufacturing sector, with a special emphasis on the government's role in creating a conducive environment that facilitated NAFFCO's expansion.

Reflecting on NAFFCO's transformative journey, Eng. Khalid Al Khatib described a successful business model as a harmonious composition of dreams, tools, and builders. He stressed the importance of aligning these elements to create a seamless rhythm. Eng. Khalid Al Khatib also shed light on the initial challenges NAFFCO faced, with skeptics doubting its ability to compete with established global manufacturers. However, he highlighted the company's resilience and determination, recounting its modest beginnings in 1991 as a team of just 15 individuals, including two engineers, operating in a 100-square-meter manufacturing facility. The company now boasts a workforce of over 14,000 employees, including 2,000 highly skilled engineers, and operates from a state-of-the-art, 10-million-square-feet manufacturing facility. Eng. Khalid Al Khatib also highlighted the milestone achievement of opening NAFFCO's first US manufacturing facility in South Texas, further solidifying the company's global expansion efforts.

In addition to discussing NAFFCO's growth, Eng. Khalid Al Khatib shared insights into his personal journey as a businessman, witnessing the dramatic changes in the UAE as it transformed into a global success model. He attributed this transformation to the UAE's business-friendly environment, characterized by supportive legislation, a robust regulatory framework, and strong partnerships between the government and the private sector.
